🎶 What I Learned From Making 5 Psytrance Albums (And Why Letting Go Changed Everything)

Creating a psytrance album is more than just arranging tracks. It’s a journey of emotion, mindset, pressure, and ultimately — surrender. Since 2006, I’ve released five full-length studio albums under the name E-Clip, and each one tells a different story of who I was at that time. Today, I want to share what I’ve learned from that process — and why my latest album, The First Vibration, is the most honest music I’ve ever made.

🌀 The Beginning – Beyond Eclytipica – Groove Technologies

I was young, hungry, and creating fast. I barely remember the creative process, which tells me it wasn’t stressful — I was just in flow. That album didn’t bring much success, but it landed me my first international gig in Athens, and that lit the spark.

💥 The Crash & Rebirth – Shuma

After failing to reach my early goals, I fell into depression. I shifted gears, focused on building a marketing career, and tried to quit music. I gave my best to quit — but music didn’t let me go. Every free moment, I was producing again — but now, just for me.

That’s when E-Clip truly began. Suddenly my tracks were supported by legends like John 00 Fleming, Liquid Soul, and Paul Oakenfold. The music felt pure. Honest. And from that place, Shuma was born — a blend of progressive, Goa, full-on, and darker vibes. No pressure, no expectations — just flow.

🌌 The Pressure Rises – Into the Void

With more gigs and a management team around me, outside voices started to shape my decisions. I still enjoyed writing the music, but I spent over a year mixing the album — and never finished. I had to send it off as it was. The album did well, but it marked the beginning of burnout.

In 2024, I played every single weekend. Some weekends I did five gigs in two days. It was nonstop, and I was mentally and physically drained.

🔥 Autopilot & Burnout – Biointegrated Design

Even after all that, I pushed myself to stay active. I made another album — fast. Biointegrated Design was mechanical. Empty. The only track with soul was Sundowning (with Zen Mechanics). I never played the other tracks live. That says enough.

🛑 Breakdown & Recovery

That burnout turned into anxiety. I started making bad decisions, surrounded myself with the wrong people, and lost my sense of purpose. Then COVID hit. And honestly — it saved me. I stepped back. I stopped making music. For two years, I was silent.

But I knew: to make my music again, I had to stop depending on it for survival. I found other ways to earn and gave my creativity room to breathe again.

🌱 The Breakthrough – The First Vibration (Out June 27)

This album wasn’t planned. I just made music when I felt like it — without any expectations. And one day I realized: I had an album. A complete body of work, almost finished without even trying.

When I finished the track Pyramid, I cried. That hadn’t happened since Shuma. And I knew — this is the one. No pressure. No deadlines. Just me.

I can honestly say The First Vibration is my most authentic album yet. I didn’t listen to psytrance while making it. I didn’t reference trends. I just followed my internal pulse.

💡 So What Did I Learn?

  • Your best music won’t come from pressure.

  • Deadlines, expectations, and strategy kill the soul of creativity.

  • Surrender isn’t giving up — it’s making space for truth to emerge.

  • Make music for you. The audience will feel that.

If you're a music producer, I hope this gives you something valuable. Don't just chase singles and trends. Don’t build your career only on strategy. Build it on soul.
